Quality Control Lead Person

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Applicant will be responsible for all aspects of the Thorn Industries Quality Department as well as related ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 requirements. You should be a team player with good communication skills and experience conducting internal and external audits. You will be required to do “hands-on” first piece, in process and final inspections.

SKILLS: Applicant will have a minimum of 10 years in a Job Shop environment with Medical Implant and component experience preferred. Computer skills, including all basic Microsoft products is essential. The ability to write S.O.P.’s and W.I.’s is required. Experience with Laser/Vision systems is a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Communicate with Customers and Vendors

  • Write and complete Internal and Customer driven NCMR’s

  • Write and train (as required) ISO SOP’s and WI’s

  • Do “hands on” inspections

  • Maintain Quality related documentation per ISO requirements

  • Work with Engineering to develop and document Inspection methods on product

  • Train others on proper inspection techniques

  • Should be available, on reasonable notice, for unscheduled overtime to meet production schedules

OCCASIONAL DUTIES:

  • Assist Manufacturing Engineer.

  • Assist production in all areas.

  • Travel to Customer or Vendor locations (mainly locations in the Northeast)

CNC Operator/Setup Person 
for Multi-axis milling and turning centers

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Applicant will be responsible for simple to complex set-ups and operation of CNC equipment, editing of programs, tooling maintenance, training of employees and ensuring that all required processes are completed to produce parts that meet quality and ISO standards. 

SKILLS: Applicant  will have a minimum of 5 years CNC machining experience and should be able to work with minimal supervision. CNC programming experience or the ability to edit programs is required. You should be able to work in a Team environment with good problem solving skills. The ability to read blueprints and or Operation sheets is essential. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensions & Tolerances (GD&T) is a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Simple to complex set-ups and operation of CNC machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts to Customer requirements. May be called upon to operate multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Set controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow and enter command to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media; observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of–tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks and Comparator.
  • Complete essential documentation as required
  • Train, assist and support employees in producing quality parts and in completing all process requirements.
  • Assure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury.
  • Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
  • Complete required preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Should be available, on reasonable notice, for unscheduled overtime to meet production schedules.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES:

  • Assist Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Assist production in all areas.
  • Assist with tooling and or fixture building.

Finisher/Assembler

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Applicant will be responsible for simple to complex Finishing Operations utilizing both hand held and mechanical deburr/polishing equipment, as well as light Assembly work fitting precision made components into Sub Assemblies, all the  while ensuring that all required processes are completed to produce parts that meet quality and ISO standards. 

SKILLS: Applicant should have a minimum of 3 years experience with metal and non-metal product Finishing and should be able to work with minimal supervision. You should be able to work in a Team environment with good problem solving skills. The ability to read blueprints and or Operation sheets, as well as measure component features using Micrometers or Comparator is essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Simple set-ups and operation of Manual machines and finishing equipment.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications, occasionally using micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks and Comparator.
  • Complete essential documentation as required
  • Train, assist and support employees in producing quality parts and in completing all process requirements.
  • Assure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury.
